Transcol Gel Adhesive CH60
Deformable cement-based adhesive with reduced slip, ideal for installing large-format stone or ceramic tiles on new or existing surfaces. Suitable for floors and walls exposed to contractions, such as heated floors or high-traffic areas.
Substrate
The substrates must be cement-based, such as renders, screeds, and concrete.
On reinforced concrete surfaces, an adhesion promoter must be applied. Concrete or masonry walls and floors must be at least 30 days old, while plaster and screeded mortar must be at least 14 days old. If the bonding occurs on highly absorbent vertical surfaces, they should be pre-moistened before applying the cement adhesive. It must be applied on flat and regular walls, with a surface deviation of no more than 2 mm per linear meter, proceeding with any necessary surface corrections.
It is possible to apply over old ceramic surfaces, provided these are leveled and cleaned.
Application Method
The mixture should preferably be made mechanically, with a low-speed mechanical stirrer.
Mix the contents of the 25 kg bag with approximately 8 to 8.75 liters of clean water until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, free of lumps. Once mixed, let the mortar rest for 5 minutes, then stir again before application. Spread the adhesive well using a notched trowel (6 to 8 mm). Then, place the piece to be bonded, pressing it with vibrating movements until a layer of approximately 4 mm thickness is achieved. Gently tap with a rubber mallet without damaging the surface of the ceramic pieces.
Allow for joints of at least 2 mm between the pieces, which should be filled with mortar and joint compound capable of absorbing the dimensional variations of the pieces. Joint filler can be applied between 24 to 48 hours after bonding.
Whenever higher efficiency is desired, or for bonding larger pieces or applying over ceramic tiles, a double bonding method should be used. This method applies to pieces larger than 625 cm² and in high-traffic areas. Once applied, the adhesive allows for a 30-minute adjustment time.
The floor can be used by construction personnel after 2 days and for general traffic after 15 days.
Safety
It is recommended to use a dust mask to protect the respirable crystalline silica, goggles and gloves when handling the product. If there is contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not ingest.
