Transcol Glass Brick Adhesive
Cement-based construction adhesive, suitable for laying and grouting glass blocks in exterior and interior panels.
Substrate
Apply on cement and masonry substrates.
Glass block panels should be independent from the remaining structure and should not bear any loads at the tops or sides.
Do not apply on horizontal panels or those with an inclination of less than 45º.
Concrete or masonry walls and floors must be at least 30 days old, while plaster and screeded mortar must be at least 14 days old.
Application Method
The mixture should preferably be made mechanically, using a low-speed mechanical stirrer.
Mix the contents of the 25 kg bag with approximately 6 liters of clean water until a homogeneous mixture is obtained, free of lumps.
Once mixed, the mortar should rest for 5 minutes before application.
Spread the adhesive evenly with a trowel, using a thickness of 8 to 10 mm.
Then, place the piece to be bonded and repeat the same process for the remaining pieces until the row is complete. Start a new row on top of the previously placed pieces. Plastic spacers should be used between blocks or profiles for assembly.
Allow for joints of at least 8 mm between the pieces, which should be filled with mortar and joint compound capable of absorbing the dimensional variations of the pieces.
Once applied, the adhesive has a 20-minute adjustment time.
Safety
It is recommended to use a dust mask to protect the respirable crystalline silica, goggles and gloves when handling the product. If there is contact with eyes, rinse thoroughly with clean water. Do not ingest.
